After four decades in the business of funding and managing start-ups, serial entrepreneur Peter J. Burns III believes his “Millennial Queenmaker” program could become the legacy project of a colorful and storied career.

The Millennial Queenmaker program is a college-without-walls concept that combines Peter J. Burns III’s experience in business and academia and focuses on female entrepreneurs looking to start up and run their own companies.

“Everything in my life pretty much has led to where I am right now,” Peter J. Burns III says. “This program is a natural business model for me, as well as a way to give back.”

He got his feet wet as an entrepreneur as a 6-year-old selling golf balls and lemonade. As a teen, he threw for-profit parties. After a short stint as an active-duty infantry soldier, Burns got into the University of Virginia, where he took an Entrepreneurship course at the prestigious McIntire School of Commerce.

The business plan he wrote for that class turned into a multi-million-dollar moped rental business — the first of its kind in the United States. That business created the equity that helped Peter J. Burns III launch, fund and expand more than 150 businesses over the past 45 years.

Far from slowing down, Peter J. Burns III — who has two daughters with his ex-wife and is on the verge of having nine grandkids (all under the age of five) — is looking to lend his business savvy, mentor and bankroll young women who are capable of creating their own self employment with the Millennial Queenmaker project.

A History of Higher Education

Peter J. Burns III has long been active in the “entrepreneurial education” space. He taught courses as an adjunct at the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University and at Grand Canyon University, where he started the nation’s first accredited College of Entrepreneurship.

In 1986, Peter J. Burns III qualified for Harvard Business School’s prestigious Owner/President Management (OPM). He was 29 years old, but already had 10 years of experience running a successful company (a requirement for admission).

He brings real-world education to the higher-education experience. Burns takes pride in educating young people — especially young women — who didn’t have a lot of support getting to where they are.

“I prefer self-starters who worked during their school years and don’t have huge student loan debt,” he says. “I absolutely love would-be entrepreneurs with the dream to ‘hire themselves’ into a great job.”

The Millennial Queenmaker Game Plan

“Our goal is to enhance your entrepreneurial drive and passion,” Peter J. Burns III says. “It’s about turning dreams into reality. We have the resources, experience and mentorship. All we’re missing is you.”

Along with team members Emily Crooke and Meaghan Hardy, Peter J. Burns III will help young women:

1. Establish a clearly defined plan of action.

2. Create a detailed budget for a project launch that includes job responsibilities and a living wage.

3. Execute all aspects of the business, including web design, lead generation, public relations and branding.

4. Build a financial model for the business and for yourself.

“We will ensure that you are building wealth now and for your future,” Peter J. Burns III says.

Getting Started in Start-Ups

In addition to having a background in teaching entrepreneurship at higher institutions of learning, Peter J. Burns III has a proven track record of bringing students into project manager positions at the companies he’s helped spring to life.

“I believe that with my concept of ‘Millennial Madness’ and now the ‘Millennial Queenmaker,’ I’ve broken the code to financial security and independence for young women who are qualified to enter into my program,” Peter J. Burns III says.

With decades of experience, and having experienced the highs and lows of starting businesses, Peter J. Burns III developed a passion for mentoring. He combines his passion for starting new enterprises with his affinity for offering guidance to aspiring and existing entrepreneurs.
